Trimming your shrubs, planting those sunflowers and mulching those flower beds might pay off this year by entering the City of Millville’s Gardenscape Contest. Last year over 50 homes participated in the landscaping beautification contest, this year we would like to at least double that amount. Any resident that spruces up their yard with flowers, shrubs and plants will be eligible to win the “Gardenscape Contest.”

“We want the City of Millville look beautiful and we want to recognize the residents efforts with an award for beautifying their property,” stated Mayor Tim Shannon, who oversees the Recreation Department which sponsors this event.

You can nominate yourself, your neighbor or your friends or family. Any front porch, yard or deck that is visible from the street, filled with flowers and looks great and is located in Millville is eligible.

Criteria to enter is:

Must be front yard, porch or deck

Visible from the street

Must include colorful blooming flower displays

To enter call the Recreation Department by June 28^th at 825-7000, ext. 7392. You must have the resident’s name, address and phone number. All homes will be judged between July 5^th through July 9, and the winners will be announced an upcoming City Commission meeting.

Many awards will be given along with gift certificates for Best in Show. Mitchell’s Flower Farm will present a $150.00 to the grand prize winner.
