![]() ![]() Quoting Frank Lloyd Wright, "The best friend on earth of man is the tree. When we use the tree respectively and economically we have one of the greatest resources of the earth." The first Millville Shade Tree Commission was established to plant, replant and identify diseased and hazardous trees throughout the city. Currently, the commission (made up of community volunteers), continues to improve the urban forest in Millville by implementing a balanced tree planting and reforestation program. In cooperation with other departments and private entities within the city, the Commission sponsors events and city beautification projects throughout the year.
The Millville Shade Tree Commission has been the recipient of the Tree City U.S.A. Award for eight consecutive years. The Commission also holds the prestigious Tree Growth Award from the National Arbor Day Foundation. The Millville Shade Tree Commission is currently a member of The Holly Society of America and The N.J. Shade Tree Federation.
